News of the Co-op / King of Prussia

By the time of the Area Committee council meeting on Monday 4 December 2006 it seemed a foregone conclusion that the plans for the new Co-op development on the King of Prussia site at Rose Hill would be finally passed by the council. At the eleventh hour they refused the application on the grounds of there not being affordable housing provision. The council are now unrealistically wanting the Co-op to hand over one million pounds so that this can be put into affordable housing in Oxford.

Although there have been some complaints on the size and design of the proposed building the vast majority of Rose Hill residents now wish to see this site thoughtfully redeveloped to enhance an area where regeneration is badly needed.
